  • Who organizes Mutual Aid is Magic?

    Mutual Aid is Magic is curated, packed, and hand-delivered by Riot the Fairy, a solo community care organizer committed to harm reduction, queer joy, inclusivity, and sharing resources. Riot is not a nonprofit or institution — just one person doing their best with the help of mutual aid and magic.

  • What is mutual aid?

    Mutual aid is people showing up for each other with care, resources, and solidarity — not charity. It’s about sharing what we can, when we can, to meet each other’s needs without hierarchy, gatekeeping, or judgment.

  • What kinds of events do you attend?

    Mutual Aid is Magic pops up at:

    Raves & festivals

    Drag shows & queer nightlife

    Community meetings & teach-ins

    Family-friendly events & all-ages spaces

  • What kinds of supplies do you give out?

    It depends on the event, but here’s a sample of what Riot brings:

    For Adults:

    Safer drug use kits (test strips, Unused tools)

    Safer sex supplies

    Crisis line cards, zines, mental health tools

    Hygiene products & cozy care

    For Youth/All-Ages:

    Diverse children’s books

    Fidget toys, treats, affirming gifts

    Art & sticker packs

    Quiet space tools and soft items

  • How are you able to do this for free?

    Everything is funded by community donations and supported by people like you. Riot doesn’t charge for supplies or appearances — every dollar donated goes directly toward replenishing kits, travel costs, and creating more accessible care.

  • Is this a nonprofit or business?

    Nope! This is a grassroots, volunteer-run mutual aid project. There’s no board, no budget meetings — just one fairy trying to make the world a little safer, one kit at a time.

  • Does this Service Cost Money?

    No! Riot coordinates all services to be free, whether their tabling or peer support sessions.

  • What is Peer Support?

    Peer support, is a form of assistance intended to encourage conversations without fear of police interactions or harm by institutions of power. Peer support offers emotional support, shared knowledge, and practical help upon request.

  • Why should I use this Service when others are in need?

    This project is supporting mutual aid, and is community inspired, helping you is a part of that community. Our goal is to help more people have their needs met safely and readily.

Can I donate supplies instead of money?

Yes! Riot accepts donations of new, unopened items such as:

  • Fentanyl/xylazine test strips

  • Condoms, lube, and safer sex supplies

  • Fidgets, sensory items, small plushies

  • Gendering affirming garments

  • Queer-inclusive children’s books
